Event San Francisco 15^th Annual Chocolate Festival

Sept. 11-12, 2010 in Ghirardelli Square

The 15th Annual Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival is set for September 11 and 12, 2010,
12 to 5 p.m.. The weekend chocolate celebration features renowned chocolatiers, artisans, and chefs showcasing their chocolate delicacies. More than 35 chocolate vendors and restaurants will participate. Family-friendly activities include the Earthquake Ice Cream Sundae Eating Contest.

Throughout the weekend, attendees can indulge in chocolate, listen to live music, test-drive the All-New 2010 Cadillac SRX at the Cadillac Ride & Drive, enjoy chef demonstrations and partake in Cellar 360’s wine pairing seminars. Chocolate sampling stations will be set up throughout Ghirardelli Square and along Beach Street.

The “Hands Free” Earthquake Ice Cream Sundae Eating contest, is highlight of the weekend event. Adults and children five to 12 dive head first into Ghirardelli Square’s signature Earthquake Ice Cream Sundaes smothered with Ghirardelli Chocolate Sauce. The winner takes home a giant basket of Ghirardelli Chocolate.

The festival is free and open to the public. Tickets for 15 tastings may be purchased in advance or the day of the event at Ghirardelli Square and on Beach Street. For those who want to make a weekend of the Chocolate Festival, Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square has a Chocolate Festival Package which includes two chocolate tasting tickets, a two-night stay, and a basket of goodies from Ghirardelli Chocolate Company.

All proceeds go to Project Open Hand, a San Francisco non-profit organization that provides meals and groceries to senior and the critically ill.
